J1772 refers to charging standard SAE J1772, also known as Type 1 to the IEC, or "J plug".
- It is commonly used for single-phase AC level 1 and level 2 charging.
- CCS is downwards-compatible with J1772, having added two additional power delivery conductors for DCFC.
- Tesla destination chargers also generally adapt to the J1772 standard with relatively simple adapter products.
