This replaces the rider or passenger footpegs on 2012+ S and X-Platform models.
- This is derived from Rider Footpeg Removal.
- Tools
- Snap Ring / E-Ring pliers (needlenose pliers are a common if less easy substitute).
- Pliers (for the spring).
- Steps
- Remove the footpeg.
- Gently spread the gap in the retaining E-ring using the pliers until it slides over the end of the pin, and remove it.
- This clip is on the lower end of the footpeg retaining pin.
- Pull the retaining pin up and out.
- Hold and pull the pin spring and footpeg as the pin comes out.
- Gently spread the gap in the retaining E-ring using the pliers until it slides over the end of the pin, and remove it.
- Install the new footpeg.
- Place the footpeg onto the bracket.
- Insert the pin through the top half of the bracket to hold the footpeg in place.
- Rider Footpeg: Install the spring on the pin.
- Squeeze the spring so it will fit through the bracket gap.
- Pull the pin partway out, insert the spring, and then push the pin back through the spring and the bracket to hold it in place.
- Install the footpeg retaining clip.
- Use the snap ring pliers to enlarge the gap in the E-ring clip to fit over the end of the pin, then let it snap into place in the indented slot.
