This replaces the rider or passenger footpegs on 2012+ S and X-Platform models.

This is derived from Rider Footpeg Removal.

footpeg retaining clip and tool
Tools
  • Snap Ring / E-Ring pliers (needlenose pliers are a common if less easy substitute).
  • Pliers (for the spring).
Steps
  1. Remove the footpeg.
    1. Gently spread the gap in the retaining E-ring using the pliers until it slides over the end of the pin, and remove it.
This clip is on the lower end of the footpeg retaining pin.
    2. Pull the retaining pin up and out.
Hold and pull the pin spring and footpeg as the pin comes out.
  2. Install the new footpeg.
    1. Place the footpeg onto the bracket.
    2. Insert the pin through the top half of the bracket to hold the footpeg in place.
  3. Rider Footpeg: Install the spring on the pin.
    1. Squeeze the spring so it will fit through the bracket gap.
    2. Pull the pin partway out, insert the spring, and then push the pin back through the spring and the bracket to hold it in place.
  4. Install the footpeg retaining clip.
Use the snap ring pliers to enlarge the gap in the E-ring clip to fit over the end of the pin, then let it snap into place in the indented slot.
